New Real McCain ad released by Brave New Films focuses on ties to Big Oil (VIDEO)

Brave New Films just released a new ad in their The Real McCain series, focused on John McCain’s ties to Big Oil:

How a presidential candidate won’t require Big Oil companies to pursue alternative energy plans is beyond me.

You’d think that with the national gas average at $4.07 now, highest than its ever been before, the signal would go out to presidential candidates that something needs to be done. (And I don’t just mean temporarily closing the Strategic Oil Reserve, President Bush!)

The United States needs long-term goals, including alternative energy plans, to be able to combat our energy crisis.

Tiger Woods forces the U.S. Open into Overtime (VIDEO)

Tiger Woods sunk a putt to force the U.S. Open into overtime Sunday, amazing fans and non-fans alike. Who knew professional golf could be exciting?

This all happened while walking into a Charlie Brown’s with my dad for Father’s Day dinner last night. I’m not usually greeted by 20 people cheering when I walk into a restaurant, so I thought it was weird to hear the collective “YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAHHHH!” from the people watching Tiger sink the putt at the bar.

Only Tiger Woods, kids, only Tiger Woods.

MoveOn.org releases “Identical Cousins” Bush and McCain ad (VIDEO)

MoveOn.org released this ad (complete with retro TV theme song music!) comparing John McCain with President Bush:

There point is obvious — that many of Sen. McCain’s policies closely follow those of the Bush Administration. MoveOn accomplished that with a little bit of humor.

Too bad the video wasn’t put together better. Showing video of McCain and Bush acting silly and including only one clip of each of them saying the same thing can easily be picked apart by Republicans. There were many other instances of both of them speaking from the same mouth that could have been included.

Maybe the ad isn’t so much an argument for their similarities as it is a way to get people to check out the Bush-McCain Challenge, a quiz where you try to tell the difference between the two Republican politicians.

NYC Street Photographer Bruce Gilden (VIDEO)

Street photographer Bruce Gilden shoots up the streets of New York City in a take-no-prisoners fashion.

It’s exactly what I as a “people” photographer have always dreamed of doing, and its a lot of fun to watch:

Gilden gives a lot of interesting insights into why he does what he does, but I wish he threw in an anecdote or two about New Yorkers who tried to punch him in the face.

On the streets of NYC, I’m sure there must have been more than a couple of negative reactions to his style of photography.

John McCain sings “Bomb Iran” in new video from Brave New Films (VIDEO)

Maybe you heard Sen. John McCain laughing and singing “Bomb Iran” as a cover of a Beach Boys song several months ago.

Or maybe you heard his “maybe 100 years” quote on the campaign trail in reference to a question about staying in Iraq open-endedly.

Well, either way, you haven’t seen this — let’s call it a musical tribute by McCain — brought to you by Brave New Films:

Now that’s a hit! Can’t wait for him to lose in November… Does he really think he can win by campaigning on extending the Iraq War? Geez.

Christina Aguilera talks about her new baby on “Ellen” (VIDEO)

Christina Aguilera Christina Aguilera did her first television talk show interview since having a baby boy on Ellen, discussing baby, Naked Sundays, and her “new” breasts with host Ellen DeGeneres:

ELLEN: Well you look great. One question: Are you nursing?
[audience laughter]
CHRISTINA: Yeah, I guess its a little obvious.
ELLEN: It’s going to be one healthy boy!

Now that’s hilarious!

Feel free to watch the video again. Just to make sure you didn’t miss anything, if you know what I mean…

Craig Ferguson on Fox News Channel (VIDEO)

TV’s Craig Ferguson went on a rant about Fox News Channel during a recent monologue on The Late Late Show:

There is an entire channel devoted to just making stuff up: Fox News! They just make stuff up. Here it is, here’s stuff. I’m saying it on TV and I’m being very firm about it, so it must be true! YELLING DOESN’T MAKE STUFF TRUE! And that’s the truth.

Craig Ferguson is pound-for-pound the funniest talk show host on television when it comes to his often current events tinged monologues. He’s almost always right-on with his mostly off-the-cuff remarks each weeknight.

Superbowl XLII Logo

The New York Giants put on an amazing performance under the quarterback leadership of Eli Manning to beat the New England Cheaters Patriots against all odds, 17-14 in Superbowl XLII!

All of which meaning that the Patriots end the season with a record of 18-1 — not perfect — and the Giants are Superbowl Champions!

Here’s the amazing catch by David Tyree in the Giants final touchdown drive that made it possible to end the Patriots unbeaten season:

Unbelievable! How Eli Manning escaped getting sacked is beyond me. But I remember turning to my friend Joey right after the Patriots scored to take the lead with 2:42 left in the 4th quarter and said, “There’s still time!” And somehow, against all odds, Manning put together that drive and made it happen!

Improv Everywhere: Frozen Grand Central (VIDEO)

February 2, 2008 Video, Entertainment Add Comment

NYC-based Improv Everywhere was up to their crazy shenanigans again, this time “freezing” people in the middle of Grand Central Terminal. Check it out:

That stunt is one of those things that I’d love to be involved with and, according to Improv Everywhere’s website, I (and any New Yorker) can be.

My favorite improv action the troupe has done is the Best Buy uniform stunt, which you can see here.

Homer Simpson takes a photo of himself everyday for 39 years (VIDEO)

In a recent episode of The Simpsons, Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind, Homer took a photo of himself everyday for 39 years in a parody of the YouTube Noah experiment “photo a day for ______” meme:

How funny was that? You have to give proper respect to the makers of The Simpsons to be able to keep up with the latest memes of popular culture and feature them on the almost 20-year-old show.

And speaking of parodies, check out this hilarious one:
