NYU Housing adopts gender identity policy: “NYU students will be able to request roommate assignments based on the gender with which they identify, rather than the gender recognized by the state, according to a memo released at yesterday’s University Senate meeting. […] The policy change follows a November 2005 resolution passed by the University Senate, which added a “gender identity and expression” clause to NYU’s anti-harassment policy. The amendment states that the university cannot discriminate based on the gender with which a student identifies.” Go ahead, try and say NYU isn’t liberal after reading that… Might be the first of it’s kind in the nation.
