The United States v. George Bush: “What would the case against George Bush for intelligence fraud in the leadup to the war in Iraq look like? A former federal prosecutor lays out her case to an imaginary grand jury, and all she needs is the evidence available in the public record to make her case.” There’s a movie about what the assassination of Dubya would look like, why not a look at what a possible trial for misleading a nation into war would look like? As of Today, Iraq War Is Longer than World War II: 3 years and 8 months later, 2882 American soldiers lost, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians killed, the Iraq insurgency us now financially self-sustaining, and Iraq is in a ‘civil war’. I guess it could be worse — the Vietnam War lasted over a decade… (0) [link]

Kelly Ripa vs. Clay Aiken vs. Rosie O’Donnell

There was quite a cat fight on the morning talk shows this week, after American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken, who was co-hosting Live with Regis and Kelly put his hands over co-host Kelly Ripa’s mouth, while conducting an interview. And then Rosie O’Donnell caused more friction when she called Ripa’s rebuke homophobic.

If you’re short on time, just watch video #3.

Here’s the original interview with Dancing with the Stars winners Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke, where Aiken covers Ripa’s mouth to try and get a question in as co-host (around 2:25):

Ripa responded by saying, “That’s a no-no. I don’t know where that hand’s been!”

On Monday’s Live with Regis Philbin back in the co-host seat, Kelly Ripa ripped into Clay Aiken, as Philbin tried to smooth things over:

Rosie O’Donnell got into the fray on Monday’s episode of The View. And then Kelly Ripa called into the show:

Rosie: “To me, that’s a homophobic remark. If that was a straight man, if that was a cute man, if that was a guy who she didn’t question his sexuality, she wouldn’t have said that…”
Kelly: “Its outrageous, Rosie, and you should know better.”

So wait, Clay Aiken is gay? I’m shocked!

Mets acquire Moises Alou: “The New York Mets announced today that they have signed free agent outfielder Moises Alou to a one-year, $7.5 million contract with a club option for 2008. Alou, 40, hit .301 (104-345) with 52 runs scored, 25 doubles, one triple, 22 home runs and 74 RBI in 98 games for the San Francisco Giants last season.” Alou is a great addition for the Mets, both in terms of experience and offense, and will be an asset to the team. Now Mets fans just have to wait to see what the rest of the team will look like… (0) [link]

Time to check out some new music…

November 18, 2006 Music, Life Comments (1)

In addition to the band Jenni just got me into, Mae, which sounds similar to Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate, I’ve been listening to a lot of new bands lately.

And no, not just the ones that send me friend requests on MySpace.

There’s the Plain White T’s, who I saw open for Panic! At the Disco at MSG earlier in the week, Bloc Party, Keane, Snow Patrol, OK Go, Nada Surf, The Subways, and I just got back into All-American Rejects.

And that, along with Panic!, Jack’s Mannequin, The Arcade Fire, and Moby, have been my commuting soundtrack as of late.

If you have any other similar bands in mind that I might like, please leave them in the comments section and I’ll check them out!

UPDATE: Oooh, I’m going to see Snow Patrol and OK Go in March with Jill and possibly someone else. I’m excited!

Tonight was the most wonderful night of my life. <3 (2) [link]

Huffington Post turns 18 months: Arianna’s eclectic collection of famous bloggers hits one-and-a-half (and an Alexa rating of 1425). It certainly has gotten people’s attention and is home to a lot of insightful content. But where’s a similar headline-reaching companion site for the everyday bloggers out there? (0) [link]

NYU students, alumni sell sex on Craigslist: “As more stories of online prostitution hit the news, it seems more people, including NYU students, are pimping themselves out online. Searching for NYU students offering erotic service on Craigslist returns a handful of results — some even have pictures.” I told everyone how expensive NYU was, now maybe people will believe me! What happened to the old standby of selling drugs to pay tuition? (0) [link]

Britney Spears Files for Divorce

Britney and K-Fed are splitting up.Two-time mommy Britney Spears filed for divorce from Kevin Federline Tuesday in Los Angeles citing “irreconcilable differences“:

She is asking for legal and physical custody of their two children, 1-year-old Sean Preston and 2-month-old Jayden James. Spears did agree in the filing to let Federline have visitation rights. The date of separation was listed as Monday.

I guess having two babies back-to-back and naming them very bully-friendly names (Sean Preston? Jayden James?) couldn’t save Britney’s marriage to a guy who put the slackiest of the slackers to shame.

All this makes her 55-hour Las Vegas marriage to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, actually look like a great idea.

According to the court papers, Spears filed for divorce on the same day she made a surprise appearance on Letterman, looking very much in shape in a short black dress:

Good PR move, if I say so myself.

ALSO: In other way less exciting news, there’s some sort of midterm election thing going on today, as well. So, vote.
