Katie Holmes dating Tom Cruise

I’m not about glorifying often short-lived celebrity relationships (with the exception of certain popstars, I must admit). But when I found out yesterday, through Rosie O’Donnell’s blog, oddly enough, that the lovely Katie Holmes started dating Tom Cruise, I couldn’t go without saying a couple of things.
In the interest of full disclosure, I used to date have long had a crush on Katie Holmes and have seen her in person at assorted TV show tapings.
That being said, I can personally attest that the former Dawson’s Creek star is not only tall, but beautiful, and just lovely in every way. Tom Cruise, also a good-looking celebrity, I hear, is 16 years older than Holmes. That’s a little too much, isn’t it?
Plus, Cruise already got to my other long-time crush, the multi-talented actress Penelope Cruz and screwed things up with Nicole Kidman.
Needless to say, I wish this whole bit of news was a tabloid hoax, but, alas, it is not:
Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are in a relationship, their publicists have confirmed.
Holmes, 26, of TV show Dawson’s Creek and films Wonder Boys and Phone Booth, is 16 years younger than Cruise. The Mission Impossible and Top Gun star, 42, split from Penelope Cruz last year.
He was previously married to actresses Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers. He and Holmes were spotted together in Rome, where he will get an award on Friday. […]
He went on to date actress Cruz for three years, splitting with her in March 2004.
Holmes recently split with American Pie actor Chris Klein, calling off their engagement after five years together.
On the bright side of things, this all but confirms that Holmes and her former fiancee Chris Klein are definitely over. But, Katie Holmes deserves better.
Or maybe, she’s just using her celebrity to have some fun with a Hollywood heartthrob. That could explain it and there wouldn’t be anything wrong with it then, except that he’s 42!
Either way, Katie, I’ll be here if you ever want to date within the highly-intelligent part of the non-celebrity realm… Give me a call!

I understand that Tom is older than Katie but I think that it is great that they are dating. They are both nice and amazing actors and who knows they might stay together. Some think that she could do better….but how could she do better that TOM CRUISE!!! One of America’s heartthrobs. I look at it this way, they are both adults and they are going to do what they want. In the past an age difference of 16 years was acceptable and desirable in courtships and betrothols.

Yes I highly agree that the age difference is big. Katie Holmes is blindly in love and that is why she does not see an age difference.
This relationship reminds me of one in Japan where Yumi Adachi (23) broke up with Arthur Kuroda (44). The age gap was a very big factor in that break up. Added to Yumi Adachi wanting to continue persuing her already 21 year career and Arthur eagerly wanting to marry her immidiately without hesitation. Yes it was a big hoopla in Japan with that couple. They started dating in July of 2002, when Yumi was 20 and Arthur was 41. Yes 21 year age difference huh? She initially grew tired of his clingy nature and Arthur also became too much for her to bear and the public’s anger to the age gap and with Arthur, put an end to the relationship in late March of 2005. Guess what? Tom Cruise was in Japan in 2002 for a whole year filming The Last Samurai during the whole Yumi Adachi and Arthur Kuroda fiasco (hee, hee). Tom’s co star for The Last Samurai; Koyuki actually made a comment on whether Tom Cruise was influenced by the hot topic made by Yumi and Arthur, that he thought Hmm! maybe age doesn’t matter. Because according to Yumi Adachi, she and Arthur Kuroda did not see an age gap, but the majority of the public, friends, relatives, parents, and all of Yumi’s fans were disgusted and bothered by the 21 year age gap. Right now Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is a major topic in Japan due to the strong similarities of Yumi Adachi And Arthur Kuroda’s former relationship.
And when you look at Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise together; I have to admit, they definately look like father and daughter just like Arthur Kuroda and Yumi Adachi did. Try google these two Japanese stars and see for yourself. Worse yet! Arthur Kuroda was born and raised in San Francisco, California. Talk about taking advantage of the Japanese system huh?
So what do you think Tom Cruises intentions with Katie Holmes is? Whith Yumi and Arthur? Many believed that Arthur Kuroda at the ripe age of 40’s used Yumi Adachi (now 23) for sexual gains. Google Yumi Adachi’s images and you will see that she is like Katie and in her 20’s and could easily; like Katie Holmes pass for a 15 year old High school student. Just imagine what Koyuki Tom Cruises co star must be thinking of Tom Cruise now!? Pedophile mentality? Hee, Hee.

As far as what you wrote — very interesting Japanese parallel — you had me until the last sentence. I highly doubt anyone views Tom Cruise in that fashion. Plus, he’s f’in Tom Cruise — he can get pretty much any woman he wants.
Interesting to hear this relationship is getting the same amount of attention in Japan.

Yes I agree with Anthony. Tom can get any woman he wants. But a 40 + year age man with 20 + female? Why can he not date 30 + like Penelope Cruz anymore? Tired of older women? In Japan it is common for men like Tom to date young 20 something year olds and it comes with agenda. Younger is better for these kinds of men and they say it is because 20 year old women are very available sexually, have more stamina, are more pretty, and are easier to control relationship because younger women are inexperienced in life and love, compared to 30 or 40 or 50 year old women. Why do you think Tom is acting like he is love sick with a 26 year old? He did not do that with his ex wives and ex girl friend.
I know story about Yumi and Asa-Arthur. Asa is same way. He act different with Yumi. Not as stupid as Tom though. It is strange how Kiana says relationship with Tom and Katie is simular because she is right. I read some comment in internet too. Publicity stunt is same, age gap is same, mens history with women is same, Yumi and Katie sexually inexperience is same, and lastly, Katie and Yumi look like teenager and they are in 20’s. Also public question about Tom and Arthur intentions with woman is same. Maybe everyone is right in Japan. Tom is copy catting relationship and using referance to publicity stunt. We have got to free Katie now. NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW. Did all of you hear? This morning Tom Cruise proposed to Katie Holmes!!!!!!!! I swear, the guy is really after her virginity. Wasn’t Katie dating Cris Klien for 2 years and then Cris proposed to her? And they were engaged for 3 fricken years. Cris is even closer in age to Katie than Tom is. Why can’t she see the obvious signs that he is using her? They were dating for only 2 months and he has already proposed???? Katie is really young and also a virgin. Anyone notice how Tom Cruise acts around Katie? If I was 42 and my girl was 26, even I would jump up and down on everything and have my hands all over the woman in public and mostly in private. The poor woman wouldn’t have room to breath. 16.5 year age difference WOW!! Yep I am even 43 going to be 44 next month and if my mother ever found out that I was dating a 20 year old or even a 27 year old! The woman would have my head. Leave Katie alone. When she get married She will learn hard way. 16 year difference is big, but she is infatuated right now with Tom. She will have plenty of fun and when excitement is over she will get tired of him. Adachi-san is like that too. Tom is rushing marriage quickly and Kuroda-san tried that too. He did not respect Adachi-sans and parents feelings regarding that Yumi do not marry Asa until the end. If man is eager and rush marriage something is wrong. I do not believe Tom love Katie. He is only excited.

Yes I have experience with man like Tom Cruise. I am 22 at the time and I will admit I dated man at 42. I thought I am very serious about him and I thought he is serious with me. He always by me expensive jewlry, clothes, flowers, takes me to expensive restaurant and compliment me and say no other woman make him feel the way I did.We date for 2 weeks and another woman like him too. A beautiful 35 year old bussiness woman, but he is not interested. I know he wants to do it. But I say to him I want to wait till marriage so it is special on wedding night. He think of me as strange because he say it is natural when dating to have sex and everyone does it. I ask him to respect my feelings and wait. After one month dating he propose to me, but I am not ready to marry. He is so eager to marry and he put pressure on me. My friends say he is not good man and I should get out. Love each other? How many celebrities do you know, really love each other? A small teeny amount. Have you seen the divorce rates among celebrities? It’s more than non celebrities. Sometimes it takes the general public to set a celebrity strait. Especially if its a guy in his middle age and a woman in her just out of teen life 20’s. Woman in their 20’s are still searching for theirselves, life and love in general. Do you know how easy it is to manipulate and decieve a 20 - 27 year old? Ask any woman in her 30’s and 40’s to rehash her dating past of when she was 20 or so. Remember what Brooke Sheilds did? Sent 2 tickets to Tom Cruise for her broadway for Katie and Tom. One for an adult and one for a child. Why do you think she did that? I read about it in the paper.

How ironic.Middle age celebrity men always date very young beautiful celebrity females and show off like trophies. Tom Cruise showing off fiancee Katie like trophy because she is very cute and very young, but innocent.But Katie is in whirlwind romance too much. Asa-Kuroda show of Yumi because she is very cute and very sexy to most mens.She is object of desire for many mens. I do not see middle age celebrity mens date so-so average very young female. Only one I know of and he not show off his wife like a trophy. Joji is in cult too but I think he love his wife more than most men does. He marry Mika mifune at age 16. Joji is 40. 24 year age difference. Mika is very simple plain female and she is not so pretty, but joji marry anyway. Joji also does not show off Mika like trophy or object of his desire. Many others do not belive this relationship is real. It does seem fake. Tom Cruise is acting very childlike and the publicity for relationship is much too big. Katie I belive is very infatuated with Tom and it looks like relationship may not last even if they marry. Age difference is strong and they have different character. Katie too is not educated very well when it comes to relationships. She is in a whirlwind everytime a man shows interest. This relationship is somewhat simular to one I know that ended recently. Yumi-chan and Asa-san. Everybody is also in disbelief because of very big age gap 21 years and the couple is the butt of practical jokes. I heard people say that Asa-Arthur can actually marry Yumi mom because he is 41 at time and Yumi mom is 44 years old. What bother everybody the most is that Yumi dad is 37 years old and Asa is much older by 4 years.Imagine a future son that is older than dad? This is why no one belives relationship is true. It was just too wierd. I have 5 sisters and they all say they do not belive Yumi actually love Asa-Arthur also because she is using career as excuse to not marry and age difference bother her too. All 5 agree that when a woman loves a man deeply, she is blinded enough to marry man in a heartbeat and will not let anything in life get in way of marriage.I belive too. I don’t think a 16 year age difference is that bad. But katie in whirlwind relationships is pretty bad. Woman are getting worse by the years. This guy this week, the next guy next month, this guy in two weeks, the next in another month, etc. etc. Tom at the age of 43 next month dating a very young woman at 26 and acting like a teen is worse. I don’t think this will work.

These relationships are more likely sexually motivated. Most relationships that are anywhere from 15 to 20 or more, have very sexually appealing younger partners. You never see a 15 to 20 or more year age difference couples with a younger partner who is average or plain in feature and cannot pass for sexually appealing. I say it is more of a need for the older person to feel the burning passions they once felt while they were young that they cannot feel anymore with someone their age or a little younger, say 5 or 8 years younger. But they sure feel the burning passions with someone way younger, say 15, 20, 25, 30 years younger. Ask a Psycologist about mid life crisis. You will be surprised at the answers you get.

They will be more than welcomed to join Teddy Landau 41, Bruce Willis 49, Billy Joel 55, Rod Stewart 60, Billy Bob Thornton 47. All who have been involved or are involved with women ages 20-27. If you think Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes look like father and daughter; you should take a look at Billy Joel and Katie Lee. These two look like grandfather and grandaughter. Billy Joel and Rod Stewart are notorious for being involved with only very extremely young women. I would die before bieng seen in public with a husband who looks like my grandfather. Thank god Brooke Burns 26 and Yumi Adachi 23 lost interest with Bruce Willis and Arthur Kuroda. It is said that with these two young ones, the flames flickered and died when the age difference became a problem in the relationship. Brooke took heat by everyone in Hawaii when filming North Shore and Yumi took heat from a lot of fans and her family. I would lose interest myself if a lot of people saw my relationship as disgusting and immoral. And anyhow; only desperate and insecure young women end up marrying guys as old as Bruce 49 now 50 and Arthur 44. And you guys thought you had these girls for the rest of your lives. HA! Get a grip everyone. Hasn’t the news got around to you yet? Tom cruise is on the brink of losing his wish filled thinking. That he will score with a young hot virgin. Katie does not want to marry Mr. Cruise. Not yet anyway. I think it is the best way for someone as young as Katie to test an older guy’s patient’s like Tom. He is now 43 years old. If Katie never told Tom she was a virgin, I would bet the world Tom would not be a fool and act like a love sick puppy and force his immature actions on her. Patients is a virtue in any situation especially in the area of love. I know he is eager to have sex. The man hasn’t had any in 3 months. His actions today show very well he is not a man in love. OMG. After reading this blog, the last entry makes Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes relationship seem like nothing. A 16.5 year age difference is just fine. I am appalled by these older men however, because I am within their ages. At the age of 44, I am a proud father to a 22 year old daughter. My family thinks I am too over protective of the young lady. I have very good reason. This blog only confirms my reasons tenfold. How the hell did Billy Joel get away with marrying Katie Lee? He is way older than her father? This is so similar to Arthur Kuroda who happens to be 4 years older than Yumi Adachi’s father. Even Rod Stewart is older than his fiancee’s father. What is going on in our society? I thank Yumi’s mother greatly for keeping Yumi from marrying Arthur. The MDN has a valid point. If Yumi married Arthur, it would mean that Arthur would be older than her mothers husband. A son inlaw older than his father inlaw? I wonder how Billy Joel feels around his father inlaw? I would be ashamed. And to think these young women considered dating these guys who are older than their Dad? These men knew they are so much older than the girls fathers. Point made clear; these men were using or are using these females for sexual pleasure. Why? To know they are close in ages or older than the father and continue to pursue these young ladies is sick and impulsive. I have to admit if my daughter brought home a guy my age or older, I would disown her till she gets her head straitend out. Talk about age gap. I have seen Tom and Katie together. Katie is blind and sees no age gap and it does not bother her. Of course it don’t bother her. If I was dating Tom Cruise? Age gap would not bother me too and he is 19 years older than me. but I agree with Manny here. If Tom is old enough to be my dad, can you imagine how sick it must be to be intimate? Imagine a guy looking into a girls eyes who looks like a teenager while being in bed and doing it. Eeeeeew! I can now see why it looks so pedophile. Especially since Katie does look child like.

Damn. That is disgusting. Who the hell would have a boyfriend 10, 15, 20, 25 years older. I suppose if you are desperate you gotta do what you gotta do right? He’s getting old and its tough to find someone his age who can get the man going if you know what I mean. In the midst of all this scrutinizing on the credibility of Tom and Katie’s relationship, did it occur to you to think that Katie may be using Tom? For personal celebrity advancement reasons? Having never been truly famous for her A-list/starring movie roles (save her beauty), and he was and probably still is her childhood celebrity idol, now that she’s starting to move up in Hollywood he’s her meal ticket to the big time, and he makes waaay more money that she does–she knows it. Katie is likeable, but her relationship’s age gap is ridiculous and her motives are questionable. She looks like she wants to be used and let up a few years later. Now Katie is pregnant before they’re even married! Is marriage/nothing sacred anymore? She’s a born and raised Catholic, even quoted as saying she’ll stay a virgin until she marries, but…well, words are cheap. When opportunity strikes (a.k.a. Tom Cruise comes into her life), she gives up all her lifelong values–instantly–it is said that’ she converted to Scientology already, and while she’s pregnant, her wedding date isn’t even set…Lookin’ cheap.

I am married to a man who is 18 years older than I am. I met my husband when I was 25 years old, and he proposed to me approximately 2 months after we began dating. There is a reason for that. I believe that older men are infactuated with much younger women, and they feel their way of controlling them, and making sure that he has her for himself, is to quickly marry her to take her of the market. This may be harsh, but it’s a reality. They know that once the little “young thing” realizes just how controlling they are, and how bad it will be later on, she may want to “run for her life”, which is what I should have done. My husband tries to control everything about me. If I had waited, I would never have married him. This is how I know Katie is no longer wanting to be with Tom. I can see the hurt in her face, but she may feel that she’s in too deep at this point to walk now. She is thinking about Tom possibly wanting to fight for custody of their daughter if she leaves so soon. Everything that Katie does shows me that she is not as into Tom as he is about her. She has been with him long enough to see how controlling he may be at this point, and how he tries to control whether or not she can visit with her family and friends. Katie wants out in my opinion, but she does not know how to do this. If she leaves now, she would have to deal with the public scrutiny, and her family and friends telling her “I told you it would not work”. I hope that she realizes that she is making a huge mistake by marrying Tom. If she sees the controlling behaviors in him now, it only gets worse. Katie Holmes smile even appear to be fake, as if she has to make herself put on a smile when out in the public eye. I know what she’s feeling, because I went through this, and I’m facing the consequences of it now. Sometimes being married to an older man can work, but for the most part, they smother you, they try and control every aspect of your life, and before you know it, your pulling away from family, friends, and associates, because your man disapproves of them. I hope she does not end up like me. When I look in the mirror these days, I don’t even know who I am, because my husband has tried to change every aspect of my life. I am an educated woman with a Master’s Degree, now 32, and I want to be married to a man my own age. My husband and I no longer have anything in common, and he smothers me. I do love him, he was just not the man for me. Katie, think about what it is your doing, and ask God to help you be strong, and help you make the right decision. For all the women out there, when a man is quick to marry you, “watch out”. They want to hurry and marry before you can find out who they really are, because once this is revealed, you may run! If something tells you not to, go with your first instincts, because it is usually a reason for that. Men tell us they type of person they really are in the first two weeks into the relationship, and it is us women who do not take heed to the signs. If a man has a problem with your family and friends now, he will have a problem with them later. Live your life, and wait for the right man to come along.

There is nothing wrong with age differnce at all if she loves him and he loves her it’s all good you cant control how you feel for someone and there are celebrites that have bigger age gapes my my my I see nothing wrong with age diffrence at all. A women should be with a older man that’s how I see it.

I am 35 and I am married to someone only 24. We’ve been together over two years and married after one year. we are happy and in love despite the 11.5 year age difference. We have more in common than I have had with past boyfriends, yes, boyfriends, I am a woman, an older woman, my husband is the younger one. SURPRISE! I have never dated younger men in my life, but this guy stole my heart despite my brain telling me the same kind of stuff I have been reading here. Time will tell if it will last or not, but I’d like to know if any of you know that our odds will statistically be that much worse than a regular marriage? Britney, Reese, Drew, Demi, Nicole, oh boy, the list of women divorced from husbands of a similiar age is seemingly endless.

Oh yes age difference does matter. Its like Erica says, its all about control.
I hopped onto this thing and read about a couple we most don’t know. Out of curiosity, I checked them out (Yumi Adachi & Arthur Kuroda) Erica says when men rush marriage it is a control issue and they want to hide their true self. Most men who do this are domineering.I read headlines concerning Yumi Adachi? Well, her former boyfriend Arthur Kuroda (46 years of age)of 20 years Yumi’s junior( she’s now 25 years old) just married a woman who is 23 years his junior. A repeat episode I must say. And from what I read, he eagerly wanted to marry his 23 year old sweetheart right away, just like he did Yumi.He dated her only for 4 months before getting married. A man who favors only young girls like that as it goes for Rod Stewart, written by Edward; he has clear sexual, and dominate reasons to pick only youngsters. Why else choose only the young? Whats wrong with women in their 30’s or 40’s? Oh I get it. Women in their 30’s and 40’s have a mind of their own. So men in their 40’s and 50’s have less of a chance to take control and tell the girl what to do and how to control them huh? The percentage is high in dominating men who date or marrry their daughters. Divorce is much higher among marriages with same age couples because women have the same strength to men their age in mental judgement. But a 20 something young girl is helpless to a middle aged man and they tend to remain in a relationship because of their fearful naivette ways. Even if he is really bad to her, she will foolishly and blindly remain with him. Middle aged men are very aware of this.
