TV-Internet Convergence gone wrong

What if, when the Internet and television finally converge, television becomes the Internet and the Internet becomes TV? Stay with me on this for a moment…

What if the rising demand for additional television programming causes networks to literally create thousands of channels, creating a network of television that emulates the quantity of Internet websites, but without all of the unique viewpoints?

And what if the Internet wholly adopts video as it’s main form of content, causing multiple sucessive buyouts and mergers, creating thousands of website channels owned mostly by large conglomerates?

Like two trains passing in the night, TV would become a fake Internet and the Internet would become pseudo television, in essence ruining the effectiveness of both mediums. What if, in the process of converging, television and the Internet miss each other and instead diverge? I know… its a scary thought. Convergence now!
