Mets tickets go on sale today!
I woke up early today to buy tickets for the “New” Mets’ baseball season, but 45 minutes into the process, I haven’t been able to get through to the ticketing server.
Instead, I keep getting the following message:
This is a new thing, as far as I can remember. Last year, I was able to buy tickets right away on the day they went on sale. You’d think they’d make it easier to take your money, right? Please wait for the server to become available. The site is experiencing heavy loads at this time. To improve your ticket-buying experience and to make it as pleasant as possible, this site permits entry to a limited number of patrons at a time.
This page will refresh when the countdown timer below reaches zero. When this happens, the system will automatically try to access the site again.
If this page refreshes too many times, you may want to try again later. Thank you for your patience.
Countdown: 60… 59… 58… 57…
Mets tickets aren’t done through Ticketmaster, like Yankees tickets (which I had no trouble accessing the day they went on sale, by the way). The Mets use some other system through Mets.com. Even Ticketmaster’s wait system actually goes through after it counts down the minutes left for you to connect. I get the feeling the countdown today is just for show.
I just want tickets to see my favorite baseball team. Is that so much to ask?
